A Nigerian businessman based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Emmanuel Onyekaozuru, has been murdered by unknown gunmen in the city.

The 50-year-old Onyekaozuru who was a strong member of Nigerian Union in that country, was reportedly killed on Sunday, June 7, after the two men stormed his house at 9 pm and snuffed life out of him.

In a statement released by the Union President, Ikechukwu Anyene, the killing of Onyekaozuru has thrown the Nigerian community in South Africa into great confusion.

"The union has received a report that a Nigerian businessman, Emmanuel Onyekaozuru, was shot in his business premises at 9p.m. yesterday (Sunday). The report said that the gunmen shot the deceased and escaped in a car.

The incident has been reported to the police and the Nigerian Consul General in South Africa."
