A commercial motorcycle rider popularly called 'Okadaman', Shehu Sanni, is now languishing and regretting his actions in the cells of the police at the dreaded State Department of Criminal Investigation (SDCI), Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for allegedly stabbing a security man, Ibukun Oguntona, to death in the Okobaba, Oyingbo area of state.

According to reports, the deceased who was on night duty on Abeokuta and Lagos streets in the area,  had stopped Sanni at a checkpoint and queried him over his movements at about 10 pm on Wednesday, July 8.

Before then, it was gathered that Oguntona had been given instructions by his superiors and people living on the streets, not to allow motorcycle riders into the area at that time.

During the interrogation, an altercation ensued between the two and Sanni brought out a dagger and stabbed Oguntona in the stomach when he tried to prevent from going away with the motorcycle.

The deceased reportedly raised the alarm which alerted his colleague on the next street who rushed him to hospital but he gave up the ghost along the way.

A police source report that operatives from Denton Division were able to fish out Sanni from a hideout he had fled to and he was handed over to the SCDI.

It was gathered that Oguntona, an indigene of Abeokuta, Ogun State, had a young wife and a boy, identified as Monday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident.

“The suspect is in custody, while the corpse has been deposited at the morgue of the Military Hospital, Yaba. The matter has been transferred to the SDCI for further investigation.”
