After five years with City FM, Kemi Smallzz joins Cool FM.
The self-confessed 'radio rat' joined the Victoria Island-based radio station at the beginning of June 2017. From Monday-Friday, Kemi Smallz will be on air from 5am-10am.
Speaking to Pulse Gist, Kemi Smallz (Oluwakemi Itari Owatemi) revealed why she left City FM. "I like to say 'when it's time, you'll know'. I guess it was just time, to try and experience a different radio station, learn from a new environment, reach a different set of listeners, catch a new vibe. The opportunity presented itself and I took it."
Kemi Smallz, 26, used to handle an independent programme called 'Nightlife Radio' at City FM in the latter part of 2012. She became a full-time staff a year later.
For fans of Kemi who graduated from the University of Lagos, she says it's the same old her on Cool FM. "It's same Kemi, just a different place. I wouldn't be me if I'm not me anymore and I like me."
In 2013, she took part in the MTV Base VJ competition. She was one of the finalists. Ehiz eventually won.
Kemi Smallz will be handling the morning show, hosted by radio luminaries such as Dan Foster, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi and others. Cool FM is the home of on-air personalities such as Daddy Freeze, Dotun, Manny, Taymi B, and others.
