Fulani Herdsmen

Following the attack on some communities in some parts of Enugu State, where residents were attacked and married women raped, new reports have emerged that the men there have been sending their wives away as they cannot continue to live with women who were defiled by other men.

It was gathered that during a meeting of the Eke Town Union in Udi Local Government Area of the state, the members decried the increasing rate of divorce that has occurred in the area in the past few months, no thanks to the invasion of the herdsmen who raped the women.

According to the President-General of the Union, Anthony Enu, who testified at a commission of inquiry set up to look into the killing of people in Nimbo community by the invaders and he noted that the situation had become scandalous because no man would take in a woman who had been messed up by suspected herdsmen.

“The herdsmen are consistently raping our women and daughters, infecting them with serious diseases, thereby causing indirect divorce in our communities.

If my wife is messed up by the herdsmen, why should I take her in again? This will mean that what is holding her will hold me.”

Do you blame the men for divorcing their wives because of the rape cases?»
