A young man who was accused of trying to kill his pregnant lover has come out to clear his name, saying he had nothing to do with her.
The lady had allegedly accused the 28-year-old Akorede of illegally terminating her pregnancy and in the process, damaging her fallopian tube and that he had been arrested by the operatives of the Area J Command, Ajah, Lagos State.
However, in a chat with Pulse.ng Akorede debunked the allegation, saying she was only out to damage his name and reputation.
In the chat, Akorede said he had nothing to do with the lady and that the story that had been making the round was fake.
"I have to clear my name of the spurious allegation against me. The girl is just out to spoil my name and my hard earned reputation.
I won't I don't know her because I do. She has been my friend for some time now. I met her in the United States where I stay most of the time but I don't know what she stands to gain by scandalizing my name.
I am a married man with a kid and my family is based in the US. She just wanted to ruin me and my career.
I was never arrested by the police at any time as she alleged. My friends and acquaintances have been bombarding me with calls to find out my side of the story. I had wanted to keep quiet and allow her to have her fame but when the calls keep coming, I had to come out and clear my name.
She also said she gave me money to buy my return ticket. That too is a lie as I did not collect any money from her.
I repeat that I do not have anything to do with her on the accusation. Only God knows why she did what she did but God will not allow her to ruin my home and career."
Recall that the lady had written a petition against Akorede through her counsel in the Chamber of Bislaw Legal Practitioners where she narrated that they were in a relationship and when she got pregnant, he allegedly procured the liquid for her claiming to be a cure for diabetes only for it to turn out that he had given her the drink meant to abort her baby.
“I met the suspect in New York, U.S, in November 2016, while both of us were on vacation and began a relationship.
When I came back to Nigeria, I noticed that I was pregnant and I told him about the development and he was very happy on the phone. And he begged me to keep the pregnancy till he comes back to Nigeria for us to wed.
He requested for a return ticket to come back to Nigeria and I spent N400k to purchase a return ticket for him. When he came back to Nigeria, he also collected the sum of N2.5m from me to prepare for our wedding.
But instead, he went to Abeokuta, Ogun State, to meet a native doctor who prepared a herbal liquid for him which he claimed was for treatment of diabetics. He convinced me to drink it and because I did not suspect anything, I drank from it.
Unknown to me, it was to abort my pregnancy or to kill me. After drinking it, I began stooling blood and ended up in the hospital. Doctors later performed surgery on me and discovered that the herbal liquid had affected my unborn baby and damaged my Fallopian tube," she had written.
