5 things you should know about popular Yoruba actor

As popular Yoruba actor, Jimoh Aliu, turns 76, here are five things you should know about the Nigerian dramatist, playwright and director.

Today, Wednesday, November 11, 2015, is Nigerian dramatist, sculptor, film writer, playwright and director, Jimoh Aliu's birthday.

To celebrate him, Pulse Nigeria has put together five things you should about the famed Yoruba actor;

1. A world-class theater practitioner, Aliu was born on November, 11, 1939 at Okemesi Ekiti, to a renowned Ifa priest.

2. He began his acting career in 1959, when Akin Ogungbe , a Nigerian veteran dramatist visited his hometown.

3. Aliu became famous for his hit TV productions, "Arelu" and "Yanpon Yanrin", which bore famous characters like Fadeyi Oloro, Orisabunmi and Aworo.

4. He later joined the Nigerian Army in 1967, but retired in 1975 to focus on drama.

5. He was formerly married to his colleague and Orisabunmi star, Folake Aremu, before they parted ways after 20 years of marriage.
