The 2016 AFRIFF Globe Awards held on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

Anchored by Uti Nwachukwu and Kemi Lala-Akindoju, guests were also entertained by series of Broadway performances featuring Gideon Okeke as Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Adesua Etomi, Osas Ighodaro and A’rese.

The Globe Awards was attended by Hilda Dokubo, Richard Mofe Damijo, Mercy Johnson, Rita Dominic, Peter Obi, Chioma Ude, Izu Ojukwu, Tope Tedela, Seun Ajayi, Deyemi Okanlawon among others.

Winner of the night include "76," Izu Ojukwu, "Slow Country," Akin Omotoso, Ramsey Nouah, "Green White Green," "Lodgers," among others.

Somkele Idhalama  and Ifeanyi Dike also got special Jury mentions for their roles in "93 Days" and "Green White Green" respectively.

The annual Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) kicked off its sixth year of cinematic celebration with Nate Parker's "Birth of a Nation."

The festival held its closing night on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Filmhouse IMAX Cinema, Lekki, Lagos, with Izu Ojukwu's "76."
