Nigeria deserves someone stronger than current President, Dele Momodu says

Momodudisclosed this on Monday, August 13, 2018, during a question and answer session on his Twitter account (@DeleMomodu).

When asked who he'll support next year, Momodu, a candidate in the 2011 presidential election, said he'll support candidates that contest against the All Progressives Congress (APC) if Buhari emerges the party's flag bearer.

He further went on to state that even though he wishes Buhari well, Nigeria deserves a stronger president.

He posted, "When the candidates emerge, I will proudly support one against APC, if BUHARI goes ahead to run... In a country of nearly 200m, I see and know a lot of vibrant candidates, young or old... If APC presents a different candidate, my choice may change but I won't follow sheepishly!

"I may support a fresh candidate in any party including APC... There is nothing personal about BUHARI other than that in his present state, which is due to no fault of his, Nigeria deserves someone stronger... I wish him well always..."

Buhari to run for re-election

The president ended months of speculation when he officially announced his intention to seek re-election in the 2019 presidential election during a meeting with the National Executive Committee of the APCon April 9, 2018.

President Buhari made history when he defeated then-president, Goodluck Jonathan, in the 2015 presidential election by more than 2.5 million votes, the first time a sitting president lost an election in Nigeria.

He is expected to face a tougher test this time around as he has had to battle health complications that resulted in him seeking treatment for an undisclosed ailment in London for a combined 154 days in 2017.
