At least 500 PDP members defect to APC

The decamped members said after the PDP massively lost out in the last general elections, the state has received zero attention from the leadership of the party.

At least 500 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reportedly defected to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The decamped members said after the PDP massively lost out in the last general elections, the state has received zero attention from the leadership of the party, adding that Benue is a leaking umbrella.

Comrade  Mark Akor, who led the defection process on Saturday, Dec. 19, said they have resolved to join hands with the APC to further the 'change' campaign of the party.

Shortly after announcing their defection, Akor said: “We have decided to join the change train today. We are tired of leaving under a leaking umbrella that could no longer provide shelter for us. One of the leading politicians in the constituency once told us that we should not be in the opposition and we have heed to his advice.

“We are no longer comfortable with the endless fight within the part both in the state and at the national level.”

Report said the defectors would be welcomed officially into the APC fold at a yet-to-be announced date.
