‘My victory is deserved,’ Obaseki says [VIDEO]

Ize-Iyamu and the PDP have rejected the results of the polls and accused both the APC of rigging.

Godwin Obaseki

Obaseki was, on Thursday, September 29, declared winner of the September 28 elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after winning 319,483 votes to beat Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu who won 253, 173 votes.

“It’s been humbling, even though we know it’s deserved because we’ve worked very very hard over the last eight years to reestablish governance in Edo state, so we had a lot to show to our people and we were able to convince them why we needed to continue with the development strides we started about eight years ago,” he said during an appearance on Channels TV.

Obaseki, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), also explained that his initial focus upon assuming office would be the creation of jobs for unemployed youths.
