What is the show about?

Cuppy Takes Africa is an amazing visual experience about my journey around the continent as I take entertainment and empowerment from country to country.  My dynamic team and the challenge of putting on 8 shows within 4 weeks!

What made you decide to produce your own reality show?

Very often, I feel misunderstood; and I always felt like people didn’t realize the magnitude of plans I had for the Cuppy brand. Going on tour was always a dream of mine, I always knew I was going to tour around Africa. When things started coming together I started to realize how epic the project was and decided to film it for personal memories. Before I knew it, all the footage and content became a story I had to share with the world!

What is the objective of the show?

The show is very interesting; I’ve accepted the fact that different people will get different things out of it. However, the main essence of Cuppy Takes Africa is to use my story to inspire other people. I think it’s important to realize we are all here for a reason. Life isn't just about following one path. It's much more exciting and purposeful than that. We each have unique talents and gifts, things to offer the world. Mine is DJing!

Aren't you afraid the show will expose too much of your private life?

This is such a great question; I used to be scared of putting myself out there. However, I now feel like when you have a great story to tell and the potential to inspire others, you must not hide away. Naturally, this show does create great exposure but also criticism… I’m ready!

How do you think your fans will react to this?

I think that my cupcakes will love the show! I think the show reveals the real Cuppy and proves that I’m just human; I make mistakes, I’m happy sometimes, I’m sad sometimes, and most importantly I’m still trying to build my dream!

Who produced and directed the series?

Myself and Samad Davis executive produced "Cuppy Takes Africa." The show is owned by my company, Red Velvet Music Group Ltd.

What other projects are you working on?

I’m working on a lot of exciting things at the moment! We’re already in talks about "Cuppy Takes Africa Season 2."

In 2014, Cuppy was appointed as a tourism ambassador by Nigeria's Minister of Tourism, Edem Duke, promoting the "Fascinating Nigeria" campaign.

DJ Cuppy won the prize for Best Female DJ at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards held in the 2015.
