APC insists on disciplining erring members

This was disclosed on Thursday, June 11, 2015, by National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed while speaking to journalists in Abuja.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that it would go forward with plans to discipline Senate President, Bukola Saraki and House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara for defying the leadership of the party.

This was disclosed on Thursday, June 11, 2015, by National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed while speaking to journalists in Abuja after a meeting between the leadership of the APC and some senators loyal to its previously nominated candidate, Senator Ahmed Lawan.

Dogara and Saraki had gone ahead to contest for the positions despite being expressly excluded by the party.

“They are our senators that will like to confer with the party leadership, they came to confer on the crisis in the National Assembly,” Mohammed said of the purpose for the meeting.

On the issue of the sanctions threatened by the APC, he said:

“The party has not changed its position on the matter. The sanctions must follow due process.”

The APC had earlier conducted a mock election during which it chose Lawan as its sole candidate for the Senate Presidency and Femi Gbajabiamila as the candidate for the House of Reps Speakership.
