Governor says Patience Jonathan is running Rivers’ security

Amaechi added that security agencies in the state had taken up the habit of arresting only members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he belongs to.

Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has said that the security of the state is now being run by First Lady, Patience Jonathan.

Amaechi added that security agencies in the state had taken up the habit of arresting only members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he belongs to.

The governor stated this during an interview with SaharaTV on a recent trip to the UK with the APC Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

“The security of [Rivers State] has now been taken over by Mrs. Goodluck Jonathan. The police are only arresting APC members,” Amaechi said.

He also spoke about the problem of corruption currently plaguing the country under the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“The level of corruption has made things so bad that the states can’t even receive their money. Buhari will not tolerate corruption. Anybody in government that engages in corruption, [Buhari] will allow the law to take place,” Amaechi said.

The governor also commended Buhari’s speech at Chatham House, London saying that it was like hearing “a president in waiting speak.”

He also criticized the spokesperson of the PDP campaign organization, Femi Fani-Kayode for his recent attacks on Buhari and the APC.

“Femi lacks credibility. The things he said about PDP when he was in APC, are the same things he is now saying against APC. He’s been spoon fed all his life…Femi has never been governor,” Amaechi said.

The governor also expressed his confidence in the APC’s ability to win the upcoming elections.
