‘There is something wrong with the Judiciary,’ APC Chairman says

Oyegun made the comment following the Supreme Court ruling that upheld the election of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has expressed shock at the Supreme Court ruling that upheld the election of Nyesom Wike as Governor of Rivers State.

Punch reports that he said the ruling shows that “there is something fundamentally wrong with the nation’s judiciary.”

Oyegun said “I still find the judgment on the Rivers State governorship election totally astonishing. There is something fundamentally wrong in the Judiciary.

“We have lost very important resource-rich states to the PDP. No matter how crude oil prices have fallen, it is still the most important revenue earner for the country.

“There is obviously something fundamentally wrong in Rivers state which needs to be investigated and addressed.”

The Supreme Court’s seven-man panel led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekununanimous arrived at the decision to uphold the election of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
