Ballot boxes to arrive in states tomorrow, March 25

Ballot papers to be used for the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday, March 28, will be moved from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) vaults from tomorrow, March 25, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has said.

This was revealed by Kayode Idowu, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega on Monday, March 23.

Mr Idowu also said that the non-sensitive materials to be used in the elections had already been distributed to the various states.

“The non-sensitive materials have long been sent to locations for onward distribution to polling units for the polls while the sensitive materials which are the ballot papers have been at the Central Bank vaults, and by this Wednesday, they will be distributed to the states,” he said.

“From the state offices they will be taken to the local government offices on Thursday and from there we distribute to ward levels on Friday. And by 5 am on Saturday people will move them from the wards to the polling units,” he added.

Idowu also said that INEC had concluded training programmes for its staff and was ready to conduct the elections.
