Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger state

Legislators in Niger State have impeached the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adamu Usman.

Usman was impeached on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, by 18 out of 27 lawmakers.

The legislators also appointed Isa Kawu of Bida 1 State Constituency to serve as the new Speaker.

Usman however condemned the lawmakers’ action saying that he had obtained a court order restraining the Assembly from impeaching him hence the process couldn’t be valid.
