House of Assembly impeaches deputy speaker, chief whip
The two principal officers were impeached by their colleagues during plenary on Thursday.

Hon. Segun Adewunmi, who represents Ekiti West Constituency, was impeached as the deputy speaker of the House by his colleagues on Thursday, shortly before Hon. Sina Animasaun of Ekiti West II was elected to replace him.
Hon. Sunday Akinniyi was also impeached as the chief whip and was replaced by Hon. Onigiobi Fawale.
House Speaker, Hon. Kola Oluwawole, announced that Adewunmi's notice of impeachment was signed by 18 members of the Assembly in accordance with Section 92(2c) of the 1999 constitution (as amended).
Hon. Adewunmi was impeached due to alleged gross misconduct, lack of leadership quality and acting in a way that could destabilize the state
Hon Animasaun was nominated as his replacement by the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Samuel Omotoso, a nomination that was seconded by Hon Afolabi Akanni.
