‘I still have 3 more years to prove myself,’ President says

Buhari made the statement on Thursday, March 24, 2016, during a meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.

Buhari made the statement on Thursday, March 24, 2016, during a meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.

“I know you are being harassed since the election that they haven’t seen anything on the ground. Well, if you have any explanation that could be accepted, (it) is that you have three more years to go,” Buhari said.

“For globetrotting, sometimes, you need to present your case on personal basis to your economic colleagues and neighbours. Nothing is better than personal touch and I believe that we are learning a lot and eventually, the nation will realize so,” the president added in justification of his frequent trips abroad," he added.

He also encouraged members of the APC to take the criticisms being thrown at them in good faith.

“I don’t envy you on the harassment you are going through from your constituencies. Take it with a lot of determination and we will be all right, God willing,” Buhari said.

Buhari was earlier reported to have assured members of the APC that he would soon give them many appointments as compensation for their troubles.
