INEC Chairman promises free and fair polls

Jega stated this on Wednesday, March 11, during a meeting with the 37 Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega has assured Nigerians that the upcoming general elections will be free and fair.

Jega stated this on Wednesday, March 11, during a meeting with the 37 Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja.

“The commission is doing its best to ensure free fair and credible polls.‎ We are going to conduct free, fair and credible elections,” the INEC chairman said.

The INEC Chairman also urged the RECs not to be distracted from their duties.

Rampant reports have had it that the Presidency plans to remove Jega and replace him with a commissioner.

President Goodluck Jonathan has however denied the reports.
