Lagos Police demolish 5 shrines in Ikorodu [Photos]

The Lagos State Police Command has led a team of crack detectives to destroy shrines allegedly used by Badoo members in Ikorodu.

CP Imohimi who personally led the assault on the shrines on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, said the move was to rid the area of the Badoo gang and other ritual killers who have been operating in the state for years.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole said a native doctor said to be a prime suspect in many ritual cases in the area was arrested during the raid.

ASP Famous-Cole who explained that the exercise was not entirely due to Badoo activities, added that the location where the demolition was carried out, was one of the areas where Badoo members operated from.

In a press release signed by ASP Famous-Cole, he said:

“We discovered about five shrines which have been destroyed. We got information about the shrines from some members of the public. The shrines were located in the Agbowa area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The operation was led by the Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi. Other agencies like the Department of Department of State Services, policemen from the task force, as well as members of the local vigilance group, assisted the police in the task.

For now, we know that the shrines were for ritual and fraudulent activities.”

Recall that when CP Imohimi took over from former CP Fatai Owoseni, he had had to do everything to tackle the security menace in Ikorodu and Lagos State as a whole, promising to reduce crime rate in the state to the barest minimum and his efforts are beginning to yield results.
