Merry Men 3 topped the charts again this weekend at the Nigerian box office.
The crime comedy gained a total gross of ₦19.4 million between October 20-22, 2023, according to the recent records by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria. This brings its total earnings to ₦50,193,256 since its debut on October 13, 2023.
This makes the AY Makun film yet again the most-watched Nollywood movie at the cinemas right now. Although there were no new titles over the weekend, Nigerians are clearly still in love with the ones currently on display.
The third movie in the Merry Men franchise, the latest release takes its audience on a tale of revenge by an old acquaintance as Dafe, played by Chidi Mokeme, goes to extreme lengths to seek revenge for being left behind in Russia during one of their old missions.
He also hunts down corrupt politicians, as he believes the group has failed in its duties to exact the right judgement.
Something Like Gold by Sandra Okunzuwa grabbed ₦5.4 million during the weekend as well, making it fourth on the chart. Directed by Kayode Kasum, the movie has a total gross of ₦50,022,850 following its one-month viewing.
Next is A Weekend To Forget, with ₦2.4 million and a total of ₦46,441,975 at the 7th spot this time around, and The Scar on the 11th spot, with ₦350,600 and a total gross of ₦2,989,575.
Still showing in cinemas is Kesari with ₦304,000, making it a total of ₦77.7 million in the 9th week of its viewing, and then Orisa at its 14th week at the cinemas with ₦146,000 and a total gross of ₦127,752,950.
