4 benefits why a celeb should have an active Facebook page

An active Facebook page still has a lot of advantages for a celebrity who wants to engage and interact with his or her fans.

Nigerian superstar actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinderecently celebrated having three million followers on her Facebook page.

“Yessss!!! 3 million !!! My wonderful Facebook family, You guys are Amazing , you add color to my world. Thank youuuuuuuu"  she wrote on her Facebook page.

Some cynics might say what's the big deal about having so many fans on Facebook when social media apps such as Instagram and SnapChat are the in-thing now. Yes the new apps are cool but Facebook is still the biggest giant in the social media world. More than one billion are on the social network every month. That's a continent.

For celebrities who are wondering why they should open up a Facebook page or make their page active there are five good reasons below;

1) Expansion of content

An active Facebook page will help expand the primary content of a celebrity. Imagine this, a top actress like Mercy Johnson can show her fans long videos and behind-the-scene photos from movie sets. Facebook is a bigger platform for contents such as these and it will be better optimized and maximized. Content such as these would help a celeb interact more with his fan base.

2) Control of narrative

If you are a celeb who wants to tell your own story and not have the media do it for you, a Facebook page is the best way to do so. A Facebook page can be used as an online diary to help chronicle daily activities and events. It is also a great platform to release press statements. With so many click bait oriented sites and blogs it is almost imperative for a celebrity to own his story and public image.

3) Authenticity

Authenticity is a vital ingredient every celebrity needs to connect with his or her fan base. A Facebook page that is constantly updated and connects with fans is key. Instead of promoting a new song or and album, a celebrity can start up a honest conversation with fans and authentically engage them.

4) Promotion of non-celeb causes

This one is mostly for celebrities who have charitable causes. With a Facebook page it is actually easier to create awareness about any issue or encourage people to donate to a cause. It is the best avenue on social media to do so.
