'The important people in Audu’s camp are already working for me,' ‘Governor-elect replies Faleke

Faleke had said that he would not attend Bello’s swearing-in and that he had no intention of serving as Deputy Governor.

The Governor-elect of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has said that he will not join issues with his supposed running mate, James Faleke.

Bello gave his response on Tuesday, December 9, 2015, via a statement released his media aide, Suleiman Abdulmalik.

The statement reads:

“I will continue to appeal to him and others to join hands with me in moving Kogi State forward. In politics we agree and disagree but dialogue remains the only solution to issues, but what happens in my state is an act of God.”

“Those who matter in Audu’s camp are already working for me even before the supplementary election, and that reconciliation efforts greatly helped in defeating the PDP.”

“Hon James Abiodun Faleke and other aggrieved party members should accept the new development as the wish of God.”

Faleke was the running mate to late All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Abubakar Audu before the latter’s death on November 22, 2015.

Bello was chosen to replace Audu after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) authorized the APC to select another candidate and Faleke was again nominated as running mate.

The decision however did not sit well with Faleke who insists that he should be declared Governor-elect.
