'Buhari has lost focus' - says Fasehun

He criticized that the government is misusing the security agencies by making them to infringe on the fundamental human rights of political opponents.

The National Chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria, Dr. Frederick Fasehun criticized that the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has lost focus.

Fasehun, who said this statement on Sunday also added that Buhari’s zeal for transforming Nigeria, which restored Nigerians’ hope after his inauguration, has reduced and also advised Buhari to stop his frequent foreign trips and concentrate on improving governance in the country.

“The President is missing in action. Initially, we said Nigeria under Buhari was flying in autopilot but now the country has receded into ‘sabbaticals’, with no petrol, no jobs, no power, no salaries, and people are waiting for their President to give them a Happy New Year, especially when the time comes to pay children’s school fees in the new year” said Fasehun.

According to him, Nigerians want Buhari to remain at home and address the problems affecting the country rather than travelling around the world.

“Nigerians are concerned about the lingering insecurity, the missing Chibok girls, the puzzling fuel shortage, unemployment, galloping inflation, the falling value of the naira, the dwindling value of stocks in the capital market, the power crisis and so on. The government should concentrate on finding solutions to all these and stop this futile chasing of shadows.”

The UPN chairman accused the APC government of playing a holier-than-thou attitude by giving the impression that those in the ruling party were all ‘saints’ whereas those who served under opposition parties were evil and corrupt. He said that the recent coverings reveal the corruptness of the APC leaders.

“The continued covering of APC politicians widely seen as corrupt shows that the so-called fight against corruption is merely a witch-hunt aimed at the opposition. Let someone tell the APC that politics and elections ended on the day President Buhari took the oath of office and governance and nation-building must begin in earnest.”

He also criticized that the government is misusing the security agencies by making them to infringe on the fundamental human rights of political opponents.
