Working committee plotting to stay till August 2017

Ali Modu Sheriff

Pulse gathered from a document prepared by the National Working Committee on Thursday night which is to be presented to the members of their party on Monday which indicated that they want extension of tenure.

In the memo jointly signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha and National Legal Adviser, Victor Kwan, claimed that only the offices of the National Chairman, National Secretary, Financial Secretary and the National Auditor are to be vacant by 24th of March, 2016. The memo stated that the rest of the officers will remain in office till 13th August, 2017.

“They are also proposing that all the NWC members should be allowed to stay till August 2017 and the current leadership at the Ward, LGA, State and Zonal offices whose tenure is to end in March 2016 be converted to caretaker committees to serve for 3 months” A PDP youth Leader, Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki said.

“That means even  the new National Chairman who swore not to stay beyond his tenure as provided by the constitution would renege on that promise” Sarki said.

He said the present NWC were the major cause of the misfortunes of the party by way of their sharp practices before and during the last general elections.

“This is an aberration. It is unconstitutional and a ploy to subvert the wishes of our members. It is certainly against the yearnings and aspirations of our teeming members. Therefore, it must be resisted by all well meaning members of the PDP” Sarki added.

He said the NWC of the PDP are glaringly not sensitive to the current realities and feelings of the people adding that they have turned the party into a fat cow that must be milk till it collapse.

“If the party must be reformed and revived the current NWC must give way for new faces to lead it out of the doldrums. I urge the NEC and all other organs of the party to staunchly reject this obnoxious proposal” he added.
