The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River has described the exit of Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba from the party as painful.

Ndoma-Egba defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after describing the PDP as ‘hostile and inhospitable.’

The Cross River PDP’s comments were made by Chairman, John Okon, on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.

“Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba’s exit from the party is painful because we did not believe that he would leave. But I must say that since he lost the November primary last year, his spirit was out of the party,” Okon said.

“The former Senate Leader is my personal friend. I have nothing against him and he lost to a formidable contender who is a grass-root person. Remember that the election was decided by the people of the central senatorial district which was out of the purview of the state executive,” he added.

Okon also said that Ndoma-Egba might not have left the PDP if the party hadn’t lost woefully in the 2015 general elections.

The PDP lost its position as Nigeria’s ruling party after former President, Goodluck Jonathan was defeated by APC candidate and current President, Muhammadu Buhari.
