‘God won’t forgive us if we don’t resolve party crisis,’ Jibrin says

Jibrin also described the BoT as the party’s conscience while inaugurating an 18-man reconciliation committee in Abuja on Monday, August 8, 2016.

“BoT is the conscience of this party and I think God will not forgive us if we sit down and do nothing; with court cases all over the place, about 15 of them,” he said according to The Cable.

“We decided to set up a special committee with a view to resolving the problem. With the calibre of the people we have chosen to represent the BoT, I am very optimistic that the end of this conflict has come and that we shall all come out smiling very soon, before our convention.

“We want us to agree that this our party will rely on its constitution and if we do, we must also agree that this party is supreme, this party is above everyone. It is above individuals and therefore we must all put our hands on deck to ensure that we resolve this matter politically,” he added.

Jibrin also dismissed the insinuation that the PDP is in its dying stages.

The sentiment was expressed by former president, Olusegun Obasanjo in reaction to reports that he was planning to re-join the party.

“If I quit a party when it was alive and seemingly united, how could I go back to a now divided, factionalized party gasping for breath?” Obasanjo said.

The former president sparked rumours of a return to the PDP when he was spotted at the inauguration of the party’s National Convention Committee in Abuja on Friday, August 5.

Obasanjo publicly renounced his connection with the party in 2015 when he authorized a supporter to tear his membership card.
