‘Why PDP lost power’ – party chieftain

A chieftain and former governorship candidate of the PDP in Ondo state in the last gubernatorial elections, Chief Olusola Oke, said the party is the architect of its own misfortunes.

As contained in a press statement, Oke said Buhari deserved the victory.

“The victory is a testimony to the supremacy of the power of the electorates in a democracy. The president-elect worked, persevered and dedicated to his aspiration. The majority of Nigerians have chosen you through their votes. It has been a long work to victory,” he said.

The politician blamed PDP’s shocking loss of power on mismanagement of opportunities by the party, but noted that the party's determination to contribute its quota to making Nigeria a prosperous, united and developed nation remains unshaken.

“Poor leadership, injustice and mismanagement of opportunities available to the party are the vices that sentenced the party out of power,” Oke pointed.

However, since the declaration of General Buhari as the winner of the 2015 Presidential election, key members of the PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan’s loyalists, who had relentlessly punctured Buhari’s credibility before the election, have congratulated the former military ruler on his victory.

Following the exemplary gesture from Jonathan, who reached out to Buhari on the telephone to felicitate with him on his victory, Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose and Femi Fani-Kayode - two of the many antagonists of Buhari have also extended their well wishes to the President-elect.
