Rivers tribunal orders bailiff to paste APC petition papers on Wike's house gate

The All Progressives Congress in Rivers has accused Wike of evading being served the court processes of their election petition, seeking nullification of the April 11 governorship poll in the state.

The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal, led by Justice Muazu Pindiga, has ordered the court bailiff to paste the service of court processes on the house gate of Nyesom Wike of the People’s Democratic Party or that of the party secretariat in the state or Abuja.

The order comes after the All Progressives Congress and its April 11 gubernatorial candidate Dr. Dakuku Peterside, accused Wike, the governor-elect, of evading being served the court processes of their election petition, seeking the nullification of the results of the poll.

According to the petitioners’ lawyer, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), at the first sitting of the Rivers state tribunal in Abuja on Wednesday, May 13, all attempts by the court bailiff to serve Wike the court papers have been unsuccessful.

Presenting an ex parte application, Akeredolu urged the court to allow the petitioners serve Wike a substituted means of pasting the process on the wall of his house to avoid unnecessary delay of proceedings.

Justice Pindiga however granted the petitioners’ prayers.

Akeredolu said Wike’s agents did not allow the court bailiff into the governor-elect’s Port-Harcourt and Abuja residences on several occasions.

No date has been fixed for the next hearing.
