“I salute Buhari,” Ayo Fayose concedes defeat

Fayose also urged Nigerians to accept the results of the elections in good faith calling them “the will of God.”

The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has called the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari a “dogged fighter” for his part in Nigeria’s Presidential elections.

The governor made the comments via a statement released on Tuesday, March 31 by his media aide, Lere Olayinka.

The statement reads:

“The election result is the will of God and Nigerians and all lovers of peace, progress and development of Nigeria must accept it.”

“I salute Nigerians, especially the great people of Ekiti State. “I salute President Jonathan for laying the most solid foundation for democracy in Nigeria. And I salute Major General Buhari for being a resilient and dogged fighter.

“I urge Nigerians, irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliation to respect the outcome of the election in the interest of peace, progress and development of the country.”

“Nigeria as a country is greater than any individual or group and it is my plea that no one should do anything to rock the boat of peace in the country.”

The official winner of the Presidential elections has not been announced but Buhari is currently ahead of President Goodluck Jonathan with about 3 million votes.

Fayose, a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had previously attacked Buhari calling him a diaper-wearing old man who was too old to become Nigeria’s President.
