Senate President, Bukola Saraki and House of Reps Speaker, Yakubu Dogara

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has adopted Senator Bukola Saraki for the position of Senate President.

The opposition party also chose Yakubu Dogara as its candidate for the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

This was disclosed by the PDP via a statement released on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh.

“The party therefore urges its senators and members-elect in the National Assembly to act accordingly,” the statement reads.

Both Saraki and Dogara are currently at loggerheads with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after the party failed to choose them for the positions.

The APC has adopted Senator Ahmed Lawan for the office of Senate President and Femi Gbajabiamila as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
