President-elect congratulates Cameron over election win

Nigeria’s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari also said that the country looks forward to building stronger ties with Britain.

Nigeria’s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated British Prime Minister, David Cameron over his re-election.

Buhari also said that Nigeria looks forward to building stronger ties with Britain.

This was contained in a statement released on Saturday, May 9, 2015, by Buhari’s media team.

“Nigeria and the Britain have enjoyed good relationships, and we look forward to developing even stronger ties," the statement reads.

“Britain, the US, EU, ECOWAS, AU and the UN have played vital roles in ensuring that democratic norms were adhered to during our elections. Their role in the smooth outcome of the just concluded Nigerian elections can never be overemphasized,” it added.

Cameron was declared winner of the elections on Friday, May 8, after a fiercely contested race.
