Gunmen open fire on soldiers escorting Corps members to polling unit

Nobody was reported hurt in the gun duel that lasted for about 25 minutes.

Gunmen reportedly shot sporadically at a team of policemen and military police escorting Corps members to their polling unit.

According to Punch, the gun duel which lasted for about 25 minutes, occurred minutes ago in Ozuaha community in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Port Harcourt.

A police officer who helped normalise the situation said the armed thugs moved towards Ubima, hometown of governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.

Following the shooting, pieces of shattered ballot boxes were reportedly littered on major road leading into the town.
