Group accuses APC of plotting to forcefully rule state

Godswill Akpabio

An Akwa Ibom group has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is plotting to forcefully govern that the state.

This was made known in a statement signed by it National coordinator, Ediong Moses.

The statement read in part, “All actions so far has pointed to one irrevocable direction: the APC government wants to takeover Akwa Ibom by all means. We are alarmed by the desperation of the APC to get the oil rich Akwa Ibom state by all means necessary through fraudulent means even when they know that the case at the election tribunal is a mere waste of time.

It further said that the APC scored less than 8% of total votes cast and has resulted to hounding, intimidating and threatening  electoral officers to do its bidding.

“Their plan is to intimidate Udom Emmanuel the dully elected governor of Akwa Ibom State, intimidate and harass the teeming supporters of Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, who is now seen as the father of modern day democracy in Akwa Ibom state since they can never rubbish his legacies.

“The APC government has changed judges in the tribunal case including appointing judges from the home state of President Buhari all with the view of ensuring they get a favorable judgment in the case. Now, even the Government House in Uyo is not immuned from invasion with impunity. Nigerians beware, we may be returning to the dark days of military dictatorship.

“You will also recall that the VIP Guest House where Senator Akpabio stayed last during the stakeholders meeting which held in Uyo two weeks ago was raided in a Gestapo manner just few days after. All these actions were said to have been sanctioned by President Buhari according to the DSS with the singular aim of intimidating, threatening and possibly implicating Senator Akpabio, Governor Emmanuel Udom and the good people of Akwa Ibom in a plot yet to be unveiled.

“The plan is simple, do anything to takeover Akwa Ibom and give it to the APC. The DSS, Police, the EFCC, ICPC and other agencies of this APC government will do anything to achieve this objective."

The group aadded that the accident of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akapbio,“must be part of the game plan to subdue the state since he is perceived to be a major stumbling block in the actualization of the APC agenda.”

“We therefore, call upon Nigerians to be aware of the plots of the APC in their attempt to cause anarchy and destroy our nascent democracy in their quest for territorial conquest. We are not in a war. This is a democracy. Democratic institutions and organizations within and outside Nigeria should also take note of these dangerous trends.

“We insist that President Muhamudu Buhari should step out and reassure Nigerians that he is committed to democratic norms and best practices.”
