Based on the votes secured, Chairman of the electoral committee for the Osun APC Primary, Senator Omo Agege, has declared Oyetola the winner.

Oyetola won in over 13 local governments.
Oyetola polled a vote total of 127,017.
Oyetola is leading Yusuf Lasun, deputy speaker of the house of representatives, who is his closest rival with 21,975 while Najeem Saleem, speaker of the Osun state house of assembly comes a distant third with 17,958 votes.
Other candidates are Adeoti Olaleka with 128 votes; Adegoke Okiki with 252 votes; Ajayi Adeyinka with 196 votes; Akintayo Gafar with 1773 votes; Alabi Olugboyega with 284 votes; Alamu Oyebisi with 1348 votes; Oyebanji Julius with 5373 votes.

According to a report by TheCable, the APC primaries in Osun state had instances of vote buying. A loyalist of one of the aspirants says, “We were given N1,000 each, but it’s too small. We heard other aspirants gave N2, 000 each to their supporters.”
Oyetola served as Chief of Staff of Governor Aregbesola from 2010 to 2018.

Unconfirmed reports say even though Aregbesola doesn’t want to choose a successor, his candidate for the APC governorship ticket is Oyetola, his Chief of Staff.
