Governor condemns Yero for spending N10bn on Government House

El-Rufai stated further that the money should instead have been used to develop the state’s health sector and other critical areas.

Governor Nasir El-rufai

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has condemned his predecessor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, for allegedly spending N10 billion on the Kaduna new Government House complex.

The governor made the statement on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at the opening of the Kaduna State Healthcare Summit.

“Our goal is to deliver for Kaduna State citizens better health and longer life expectancy, and in this quest we seek results that will place our state in the top tier for healthcare delivery,” El-Rufai said.

“We seek this vast improvement in healthcare outcomes for our people because the present situation is unacceptable. Current coverage of measles vaccine is 56%, reflecting a dismal immunisation coverage for 12-23 month-olds of only 35 per cent,” he added.

The governor was earlier reported to have taken his ill child to a public hospital in the state for treatment.
