Reps Speaker appeals for more patience with APC government

The Speaker stated that Buhari was facing enormous challenges but determined to surmount them.

Nigerians will begin to reap the dividends of promises made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) when the 2016 budget is passed into law, Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has promised.

This is contained in a statement issued by Turaki Hassan, Dogara’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja.

Dogara urged Nigerians to exercise more patience with the APC-led government to fulfill its campaign promises.

He said the last six months could not be used to judge the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, saying the administration inherited empty treasury and a battered nation.

"Nigeria is passing through difficult times and the citizens need to show more understanding and patience as damages done to the country will take time to fix.

"The 2016 budget will soon be presented by the president and the appropriation bill will contain promises for the masses,’’ he said.

Dogara said that Nigerians should criticise the government if after the passage of the 2016 budget it failed to deliver.

"We cannot afford to disappoint you and the mandate you gave us. Give us and the president maximum support and we shall not disappoint you.

"Change is a gradual process; with patience we will bring the desired change and development you clamour for,’’ Dogara said.
