In his reaction to the judgement, Mark hailed the tribunal for the verdict, adding that the judiciary is still the last hope of the oppressed.

Former senate president, David Mark.

The Benue State National and State Assemblies Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Makurdi, has upheld the mandate of former Senate President David Mark as the winner of the Benue South Senatorial election.

The tribunal led by Justice Mosumola Dipeolu unanimously struck out the petition brought by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Daniel Onjeh, who lost to Mark of the People's Democratic Party.

Justice Dipelou said Onjeh and the APC were unable to prove allegations of rigging, multiple thumb-printing, over stuffing of ballots, allocation of votes, intimidation, harassment and inducement of voters among others.

He promised to bring the dividend of democracy to his constituents and beyond.
