President Buhari has urged the judiciary to support the anti-corruption war by speeding up the trial of those charged with looting of public finds. He urged the judiciary to turn a new leaf and refrain from dragging cases unnecessarily.

The president was making reference specifically to the trials of Sambo Dasuki,  former National Security Adviser; a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bello Haliru Mohammed, a former Governor of Sokoto, Attahiru Bafarawa and a few others who were indicted in the $2.1b arms deal scandal.

“Our crackdown on corruption will continue to be vigorously undertaken,” Mr President said.

“I urge the courts to support our efforts and help in the recovery of stolen funds by speedily concluding trials and showing that impunity no longer has a place in our country.”

The president also said that he would not tolerate corruption in his cabinet, as he vowed to sack any of his ministers found guilty of corrupt practices.
