Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is a symbol of the “born-again phenomenon”.

The renowned playwright made the comments during a recent interview with Zero Tolerance, a publication of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Soyinka said:

“He (Buhari) has not brought himself round to apologize; if he had done that, I might have been less ambiguous about him. But I think from my findings about him, he is a born again phenomenon. If I am wrong, well, too bad. Though I don’t believe in ‘born-againism’ but I think this may be an exception.”

Soyinka also said during the interview that former President, Goodluck Jonathan had been caged by powerful forces during his tenure.
