APC clears Irukera for Kogi governorship primary

Irukera was earlier disqualified by the APC.

The national working committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared a kogi governorship aspirant, Babatunde Irukera, to contest the party's governorship primary.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC said Irukera successfully met the conditions provided by the its guidelines for the nomination as candidates within the time granted to clarify his claims.

However, the screening committee headed by Hope Uzodinma, had on August 26, released its report, disqualifying Irukera for not meeting requirements.

Some members of APC on the auspice of Kogi Mandate Group, on Wednesday had expressed concern over the disqualification of a Irukera.

The National coordinator, Kogi Mandate Group, Amos Alfa, said that the group was at the APC National Secretariat to protest against disqualification of Irukera.

Alfa urged the NWC of the party to ensure justice prevails and Irukera is cleared.

The APC had fixed Thursday, August 29, 2019, for the Kogi governorship primary election.
