Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi will serve as Minister for Transportation in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.

Amaechi was sworn in today, November 11, 2015, along with 35 other ministerial nominees.

The former governor was confirmed as a minister on October 29 after the Senate rejected the report of the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges on a petition filed against him.

The complaint had been filed by three Senators from Rivers citing the allegations of corruption levelled against the former governor.

The Ministry of Transportation is expected to cover Aviation, Land and Water as Buhari strives to cut cost by reducing the number of ministries in the country.
