President Goodluck Jonathan and the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari have cancelled planned campaigns in Yobe State and Borno State respectively.

Jonathan was set to attend the Presidential rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, but the event was cancelled at the last minute.

Buhari also cancelled a scheduled campaign trip to Maiduguri after a stop in Gombe State.

Vanguard reports that the two candidates were forced to cancel their trips to the North-east due to the insecurity plaguing the area.

Jonathan’s campaign convoy has been repeatedly assaulted and his aides were left stranded in Maiduguri after a Boko Haram attack occurred a day after the President left the town.
