Can anyone live in Nigeria these days without experiencing stress? I think not.
Dealing with stress
I have been trying to upload some documents for two hours now and the epileptic connections that MTN has been coming up with these days has made that an impossible feat!

As if that is not frustrating enough, NEPA has taken light 8 times in two hours.
What is wrong with us as a Nation? The price of diesel nko ? As for food, almost everything has experienced a 200% increase (although I am convinced that a lack of effective price regulation is responsible for this hike that is being blamed on recession.
For instance there is a town where a basket of tomatoes was sold for N10,000 last month . Meanwhile about an hour and a half away, a bigger basket of tomatoes is sold as 4500! Does it not make sense to pay 1500 naira and go buy my tomatoes there? However, there is a factor that we have not considered, the TERRIBLE roads! It’s almost like a no win situation therefore they must be stress.
Well, “ miolewaku”, so what are my options? How do we deal with the stress that so easily overwhelms us , these days?
First of all, we must understand that stress begins with the mind. It messes up the thought pattern and then begins to wear out the body. That is when the door opens for sickness, disease and possibly death.
EXHALE – deep breathing is a good way to relieve stress.
I have found that MEDITATION is a good way to relieve stress. I take some time to be alone with myself. A quiet serene environment works perfect. If however, you are unable to be by yourself, headphones are able to lock you into a “me environment”, take advantage of this. Do not believe that myth that we have no control over your thought life. You do, and just like every part of your physical and mental being, you can mold it as you please. Meditate on good things. Some people try YOGA. For me, meditating on the Holy Scriptures always calms me.
Take a WALK-Just like meditation lone walks are stress relievers. Sometimes you only need to clear your head and put things in perspective. A walk can do wonders.
EXERCISE - Yes most middle and upper class Nigerians are lazy. They hardly move any muscle. They wake up in the morning and don’t need to make their beds, cook their breakfast or drive themselves to work! They don’t even have to carry their briefcases to the car. For some , even their phones are held for them! That, my friend is not enjoyment, it’s a road that leads to a frustrating end. If you take regular brisk walks, then you do enough exercise. I prefer to dance and dancing helps to reduce stress.
MASSAGE.- all I can say here is “wow” , a visit to the Spa if you can afford it , you wont regret it ! Massaging the shoulders, neck and back is so on point that you most likely will fall asleep!
Stay away from STRESS INDUCED foods. I have a secret admiration, which is my way of saying an addiction, to coffee and Coca Cola. But I am aware that caffeine and sugar induce stress. Even if you can’t get rid of them, make an effort to reduce their intake to the barest minimum
SEX is definitely a stress reliever.
VACATION- A holiday is required when you are on a high with regards to stress, it is STRESSFUL getting a Visa, paying the ridiculously high airfares, but we can look within for vacation spots. We will be looking at Nigeria’s vacation spots next time.
