President to use 5 special ‘weapons’ against corruption

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to use five new laws as weapons in the fight against corruption, reports say.

The five bills were pin-pointed by a committee of legal luminaries led by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Vanguard reports.

They are also said to be among the 46 bills hurriedly passed by through the Senate on June 3, 2015, the last day of sitting by the 7th Senate.

The five bills are the Office of the Financial Ombudsman Bill 2015, National Convicts and Criminal Records Bill 2015, Electronics Transactions Bill 2015, Whistle Blower Protection Bill 2015 and the Nigerian International Financial Centre Bill 2015.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu confirmed that the Presidency had an interest in the bills but did not say what role they would play in Buhari’s fight against corruption.
