Papa Omisore is arguably one of the fastest rising designers in Nigeria right now. He started his career with his PR agency P.Rite agency and he hasn’t slowed down since. Today, he is creative director of P.O.C Lagos.
Papa sat down with Pulse TV to talk about his famous last name, career and journey so far, in a way you’ve never heard it before.
Papa explains that he had a very humble childhood, unlike what people think because of his famous last name, with his mom providing for himself and his twin sister. Although, his dad wasn’t present, he had a lot of cousins to keep him company.
His PR agency, P.Rite agency became famous after he teamed up with the Mavins crew to find new talent when Don Jazzy decided to start his own record label, Mavin records and he found the likes of Reekado banks.
He was always into fashion and he felt the need to make things that men could wear different from the traditional designs that most Nigerian men were wearing. Then people started to commend the things he made and he said he figured he could make it into money.
Also, in talking about his label, he said he never actually came up with the name People Of Color, instead a blog had written an article about the brand and named it that and then he adopted the name but actually, P.O.C stands for Papa Omisore Clothing.
In regards to the future, he highlights that his latest collection coming up is probably his favorite collection, as he deems it scary but exciting and he looks forward to it.
