Dimeji Alara on the cover of MADE Edit

Earlier on, we brought you the story about Dimeji Alara resigning from Genevieve magazine. We also brought you the scoop on why he left his position as editor. Now, the celebrity editor and stylist speaks to Made magazine, on his differences between himself and his former boss at Genevieve and colleague at Style Mania.

According to Alara, in regards to Genevieve magazine; “I did have the opportunity to work with some amazing people at Genevieve, people I’m still very much in touch with till today, and I’m very grateful for that. I had a very understanding publisher too, even though we didn't always agree.”

When asked about his dramatic exit from Style Mania magazine, he said “I have never spoken publicly about this before, but Kelechi and I had our differences, we had our disagreements, a lot of things happened. It wasn’t just one thing, things kept piling up, and it got to a stage I had to tell myself just to let go.”

He also spoke about his regrets, saying “I never have regrets. Of course, I sometimes wish things had turned out differently. In life, things present themselves to you, and it's how you choose to deal with them that reveal who you are. I've learned to let go and move more quickly to the next place. In the end, I do respond to my own instincts.”

However, Alara seems to be in a good space, as he says he is not rushing into any decisions at this point and he is just taking things a step at a time. He also mentions that Nigerian is behind on the business aspect of fashion in comparison to South Africa but that we are on the right track.

We wish Dimeji all the best moving forward.
