This has been revealed in a new movie trailer for the upcoming film.
The film set in the 70s sees a group of scientists made up of Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and John Goodman visiting Kong’s island in South Pacific.
In the trailer, the island is described as “a place where myth and science meet.”
The group is unaware of the inhabitants of the island and drop bombs as they fly over it to help them map out the island by “shaking up the earth”. This causes the giant ape to antagonize them and attack their helicopters.
It turns out Kong is not the only creature on the island they have to deal with when they get stranded - there are also giant lizards called “skull crawlers” who live beneath the earth.
“Kong” is directed by American director and writer Jordan Vogt-Roberts who made his directorial-debut with “The Kings of Summer” in 2013.
The film is scheduled to be released in the United States of America on March 10, 2017.
