News Network apologizes for calling Kenya a 'hotbed of terror'

The apology was offered in a meeting between Maddox and Kenya's president Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a televised report, CNN had described Kenya as hotbed' with “questionable security concerns worse than Iraq and Afghanistan”.

The comment was made before President Barack Obama's July and  first visit to his father's homeland since becoming US president.

The 'hotbed of terror' comment didn't sit well with Kenyans who took to Twitter, using the hastag  #SomeoneTellCNN, to attack the news network.

Maddox flew all the way from Atlanta to Nairobi to personally apologize to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Kenyans, describing the comment as  'undeserved and ill-fitting.'
