2016 AMVCA award winner speaks on win, being stereotyped, top 5 Nollywood movies

In the interesting interview, the talented actor also spoke on being stereotyped as the bad guy, the fear he has had to overcome in life, his top five Nollywood movies, among other interesting topics.

 

Sambasa who won theundefinedfor his role in "A Soldier's Story," was recently a guest at Pulse TV.

Speaking on how he got into acting, the actor revealed that he started from his Church (St. Mary Catholic Church, Isolo) where his late mum was in charge of the children department.

Sambasa also spoke on how he got his first movie role "A Mile From Home." Speaking on learning the 'Wazts Republic" accent for "A Soldier's Story," the actor said "At first it was tough because everyone wanted to be professional, get the accent and deliver. We got used to it because we used it to because we used it to talk, even while we were not acting."

On expecting his AMVCA win and nomination, he said "the first day the producer sent me the list that was submitted to AMVCA, I said "God, it would be nice if I could win.' I put my heart into it."

The actor made his first major debut in Eric Aghimien’s AMVCA award winning movie "A Mile From Home". A graduate of Creative Arts Department of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), the actor has featured in stage productions like "Langbodo," "The Duet," "Idaoreh," "gods are still not to blame," among others.
